The Michael J. Cerroni 5K has partnered with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center to help raise awareness against bullying inside and outside of schools. PACER developed National Bullying Prevention and Awareness Week, to raise awareness about bullying. Historically, bullying had been viewed as “a childhood rite of passage” that “made kids tougher,” but the reality has always been that bullying can leave devastating and often long-term effects such as a loss of self-esteem, increased anxiety, and depression for those involved. PACER reached out to the community through partnerships with education-based organizations such as the National PTA, the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association to provide schools, parents and students with the educational resources and support to better respond to bullying behavior.
Welcome to the site of the 7th Annual Michael J. Cerroni 5K.
Carthage Central High School Graduate and USMC Captain Michael J. Cerroni lived every day to the fullest. In his short life, he continuously personified great fortitude and drive. Following the loss of Michael in 2006, The Michael J. Cerroni Memorial Scholarship was established. Michael was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps who served in multiple tours throughout the Persian Gulf during his 10 years of service.
The Michael J. Cerroni Foundation annually awards two graduating Carthage Central High School Seniors (one male & one female) with a $1,000 scholarship each to assist with post-high school plans (college, military, vocational, etc.).
As a registered entrant into this wonderful event you will help The Michael J. Cerroni Foundation make a difference in the lives of members of the community who are looking to improve themselves either through higher education or military service.
